Rise Up
Well, I was there when you were torn apart
Now a piece of you is gone
Somehow you wish that you could only find
A little strength to carry on
You've tried so hard to make it on your own
That your heart has come undone
So I am here to prove that I alone
Have the power to overcome
Don't let your heart be troubled
This world will never keep you down
It will never keep you down
So rise up, my friend
This will never be the end
So rise up, my friend
And live again
I didn't want you to feel this way
It's not what life was meant to be
And so for, my friend, I'll take your shame
You can give it all to me
'Cause you wrestle demons every day
And they've dragged you to your knees
But in your weakness you will learn to find
That I will always be your strength
In life or in death
Through joy or regret
And all of the secret things you have done
No matter what comes, my friend
Nothing can keep you from the love of God.

Decorating tips #1
When repainting a room that has bare floorboards remember to firstly find/buy dust sheets and secondly to use them to cover the boards. Failure to do so will result in paint being dripped/spattered/trodden onto the boards. If it is emulsion then is can be removed by soapy water and HOURS of scrubbing on your hands and knees. This is NOT recommended.
Gin'll fix it
I always suspected that my brother was a little bit crazy. Now I have proof. Him and two mates are going to drive D reg Beemer that they bought for £100 and then pimped up in a rally to Casablanca. Fortunately, it's all for a good cause. For amusing photos and more about their crazy journey look here.
(The team's called Gin'll fix it - hence the title of the post)
Fun
A while ago I wrote about trusting God to meet me in the place I was at and I'm glad to say that he did this and even more. Things are moving apace on that front but aren't quite ready to be blogged about yet so I'm afraid you'll have to be patient.
In the meantime here are two things that have been a lot of fun recently (and here is also where I wish I had a digital camera).
1) Eggstreme Egg rolling.
As part of Organised Easter Fun we rolled eggs. But our part of the world is sadly lacking in topographical extremes so we were forced to improvise with a railway bridge. We encouraged our little eggs to roll along the pavement but they were having none of it and went for the road. Needless to say, some were taken out by rapidly moving obstacles (we were unable to stop the traffic during our race) and one by a kindly passer-by who failed to understand that we wanted our eggs to go DOWN the hill!
2) Walks in the country.
A very satisfying Sunday afternoon stroll about a slightly more distant part of our world that has managed to develop some undulations. Lovely weather for walking and a very nice picnic. Unfortunately all the pubs seemed to think that Sunday afternoon was not a suitable time to be open. Move over bake club, here comes walk club!
You know you're getting old when..
... your Young Person's railcard expires for the final time. I am now officially not a young person.
Nostrils
As it's the end of term I have come down with customery cold (or maybe it's flu but my immune system is fantastic against flu now!). Whilst complaining about my blocked nose last night I learnt that we only breathe through one nostril at a time! If you don't believe me (and I didn't) read this.
Again? Surely not!
But yes. I have caught flu for the third time this winter. I know, once is unfortunate, twice careless but three times? The only advantage is that on the third time round by body has become fairly adept at fighting it. Who knows, I may catch it a fourth time and not even notice!
